Copenhagen
...was the largest concentration of gasbags ever collected in one place.
And for what reason?
Global warming?
Climate change?
To hear each other lecture us abour how much we breathe?
Or to attend the party?
The answer is to attend the party.
Outside the meeting rooms a winter storm howled and brought gobs of snow and ice. In America a December storm dropped up to 2 feet of snow in places in the Mid-Atlantic region. (21 inches at my place.)
The American president was forced to flee the Copenhagen storm in order to avoid the storm on the East Coast.
Just imagine what the Storm would have produced without global warming!!
And I wonder how much energy was wasted by the gasbags by flying private jets (Algore) to and from the gasbag conference, by using limos, and by attending the countless parties.

The Secret Service
...does its job.
And does it well.
The recent huff over two publicity seekers gaining entrance to a state dinner at the White House brought what I am sure is unwanted attention to the Secret Service.
My best guess is that a political person at the White House, not the Secret Service, decided to permit the two PR hounds into the dinner. Of course, the Secret Service will take the blame since Obama officials never make mistakes.
The Director of the Secret Service was on the Hill yesterday before a House committee. Despite continuing stories of more threats against President Obama (compared to previous presidents) , the Director, Mr. Sullivan , testified that the threat level is the same as it was against Bush 43 and Clinton.
Mr. Sullivan was under oath.
Well, there goes the liberals' "hate" theory.

JOBS
Joe Biden, the working man, said jobs was a three letter word.
No wonder Biden and his boss cannot create jobs.
The huge stimulus package was passed to prevent the jobless rate from going over 8 percent.
Last month the rate was 10.5 percent!
Well, that stimulus really did the "job", didn't it?
Tomorrow the Empty O and Biden convene a "Jobs" conference at the White House.
Does anyone really think the O and Biden, or any other set of government politicians, can create real jobs?
Real jobs are created by the private sector. The Empty O and Biden have no experience in the private sector and do not understand how our economy works.
So look for the jobless rate to rise as long as these clowns are in charge.

Just as I expected the numbers from some "scientists" have been cooked, altered, made up out of air, so to speak, to further a political agenda instead of a clean air or other "clean" purpose.
When will the police arrive to frog march these criminals out of their fake labs?

And of course the mainscream media are circling the wagons to protect their fellow travelers in the scam that is global warming/climate change or whatever the latest racket is called.

Have you noticed a trend at the Obama White House?
First, it was Van Jones who was the "Green jobs" person in the Obama adminsitration. Jones was forced to resign his position because of his political views. What was wrong with his views? Nothing if you are a Far Lefty who looks up to the figures from the Old Soviet Union and the Old China. Jones was a self described "communist"
Now it is Anita Dunn.
Dunn is a "Media" expert who advised the Obama campaign and now the Obama White House on media affairs. Specifically, she advised Obama and his team on how to avoid the media spotlight. She recently told high school seniors that she looked to two favorite "philosophers" for guidance. One of whom is Mao.
Yes. Mao.
The Mao of 40+ millions killed for political reasons. The Mao well known for abusing/using children for perverse reasons and who knows what else.

It was great for people to criticize the president, we were told.
It was patriotic to oppose Bush we were told. Liberals and the Left encouraged all, even our military folks, to speak out against Bush's policies.

The people who opposed Bush were heroes, we were told.

Dissent is now taboo.
People who oppose Obama's ideas and policies, such as they are, are considered evil trouble makers or Republicans (the lowest atom on the food chain in the Liberal/Left world view).
Folks who opposed the high jacking of our health care system by the DC gang from Chicago were called rioters, rabble rousers, and of course, racists for expressing their views at town hall meetings all over the country.

The Health Care Struggle Continues
Health care is the latest battleground for control of our lives.
How will it end? How much control will the bureaucrats in DC gain over our lives.
Who will fight for the rights and responsibilities of millions of individuals?
And why is the power grab presented as "reform" of our health care system?
It is NOT reform! Not even close to being reform.

Chicago...
..lost the 2016 Olympics - voted out in the first round.
Why?
Chicago had the "O team" working for it. Mr Big "O", Mrs Big "O", and The "O" herself. According to Mrs "O" both she and the "O" sacrificed greatly to go to Denmark to win the Games for the city.
How did they lose in the first round?
How did the "O" Team lose so badly?
Perhaps it was the pressure from the "O" Team that turned off the selection committee.
Or could it be the growing lousy reputation of the city itself with its myriad problems: crime, corruption on a grand scale matching and even surpassing 3rd World corruption, the city's financial problems, a poor presentation, or a combination of everything.
My contact in Chicago tells me that more than half the city's people opposed the bid and they rejoiced in the early ouster of Chicago. These folks are wise. They knew they would be forced to pay up for the Games, to suffer higher taxes, and to endure eminent domain fights.
The only folks who stood to gain from the Games were the politically connected; the slums lords tied to the Daly machine and to Obama's election campaign and administration.
Yep, they thought they had found a way to make billions and pass millions off to the crooked politicians; local, state, and higher.
The Games go to Rio. Let them deal with their crooked politicians and save us from that ordeal.
We have enough rotten politicians to deal with here.

A new president came into office with a sagging economy, rising unemployment, a financial crisis brought on in large part by federal government interference in the free (such as it is) market and the failure of federal agencies to regulate properly, a continuing War on Terror, and a host of other pressing problems. So what does the new president tackle?
Health care.
Say what?
Health care.
President Obama decided to concentrate his energy, time, and political capital on health care just as the Clintons focused on health care in the early 1990s.
Why?
Power.
Control.
Are two reasons Obama selected health care because health care is the fastest way for a socialist to take complete control of the American economy. This complete control is what the Clintons wanted and is what every socialist wants so people’s lives can be planned, organized, controlled, directed, and managed by a Big Brother government in Washington, D. C.
It is not reform and Obama has no plan for health care. Where is the plan he talks of in speeches? Senator Max Baucus just released a “plan” he developed over the past few weeks. It is not the Obama Plan for there is no Obama Plan. But any plan that empowers faceless bureaucrats in DC is one Obama will sign. Obama wants to extend the government’s nose farther into the health care tent in order to control people’s lives.
The federal government recently offered a “Cash for Clunkers” program to encourage folks to trade in old gas guzzlers for modern vehicles with higher CAFÉ standards. The feds spent $3 Billion in this effort to clean up the highways and stimulate the automobile economy. However, most dealers complain of no/late payments from the feds for the thousands of old cars they accepted and paid the buyers.
If the feds cannot operate a simple “Cash for Clunkers” program, why should we Americans expect the feds to run a health care system?
During the 2009 August Congressional recess millions of Americans expressed their opposition to the feds taking over health care. Surveys show that most people are happy with their health care coverage and want no changes to it. Many exercised their right of speech at town hall meetings and told their elected federal officials they wanted no federal government takeover of their health care system.
In turn these folks were criticized, called rioters, radical right wingers, extremists, organized by the Republican opposition. The media played from the Obama handbook and joined in the bashing of people freely speaking their minds .
In a few months we went from adoring a politician who cut his teeth on ACORN –a community organizer- to condemning folks for self organizing and expressing their views to their elected representatives.
Change! You asked for it!

Our Illustrous Leader
During the recent election praises were sung to the young leader.
School children were herded into a chorus and taught to sing praises to his name.
The news media fawned and panted over the bright rising star on the political horizon.
Sounds like North Korea or Cuba or Iran or Syria where rulers are lauded with songs from school children.
No, it was the good old USA singing praises to Obama the Great.

First Lady
The current First Lady may be our first Queen.
I hear she has a staff of 20 or so to look after her interests, whatever they may be.
In the past First Ladies had one or two people to assist with correspondence, but since First Ladies have no official duties they required no taxpayer funded staff.
Until Queen Michelle.
A staff of 20 to handle no official duties?
What do these people do all day?
Babysit?
No, Grandma does that.
Cook?
No, White House staff does that.
Clean?
No, White House staff does that.
Drive?
No, Secret Servcie staff does that.

How many are currently between jobs (therefore no employer provided insurance)?
How many are between the ages of 21 and 35 and do not want or need health insurance?

Illegals do not deserve health care unless they pay for it.
Folks between jobs will pick up insurance later.
Young people see no good reason to waste their money on health insurance. If they have medical problems they best obtain insurance.

The only reason Obama and the Left want to "reform" health care is to seize 1/6th of the American economy. After seizing the automobile companies, the banks, and the insurance companies health care is the big ticket item.
This effort is disguised as "reform". Does any sane person think the federal governmant can "reform" health care when it cannot run a cash for clunkers program, cannot control our borders, cannot control its own budget, and cannot run a mail service without running a deficit?
Only fools and silly people trust the federal government to improve anything about health care. The government should NOT be involved in health care.

Apologize or Apologia?
Our President thinks it necessary to apologize- repeatedly- for what he deems American past mistakes. While we have made many mistakes in the past, just think of Jimmy Carter to start, it may be helpful to remember the great things America has done.
Remember what we did for the world in the 20th Century. Two wars started by the Euros pulled us from years of isolation. Many Americans gave their all to free Euros from the evils of fascism and its twin, communism. America spent billions if not trillions rebuilding Europe and Japan after those two wars. American ideas, inventions, investments, and foreign aid brought many areas of the world into the 20th century.
Yet the American Left sees only the comparative few mistakes as worthy of discussion. And make no mistake here, President Obama is an American Lefty.
Since when is the liberation of 50 million people viewed as a mistake? What is wrong with freeing people to make their own political and economic choices? Why is democracy viewed as a mistake by the American Left?
So instead of profusely apologizing for what HE thinks were mistakes, Obama should be issuing an Apologia for American Exceptionalism.
Do not hold your breath in anticipation of this.

Thoughts for 2009
I am trying to have good thoughts for this new year. We have a new president who just got a 100 day+ break from criticism from me. That is about to end.
The financial mess is deeper and wider than before and we somehow still expect the the people who created the mess to fix the mess. Politicians, Wall Streeters, assorted bankers and movers and shakers, Members of Congress, elites from the liberal arena, and a product of the corrupt Chicago political system is suppose to "fix" our problems?
How does that work?
The new president set a new precedent when it comes to selecting his cabinet. Paying their share of income taxes is optional for the appointees of the new president. From Geithner to Daschle to Schebelus (sp?) to Richardson to several others it seems ONLY LITTLE PEOPLE PAY TAXES.
And Obama is doing his best to set the conditions for total control of the country (politically, economically, culturally) by the DC elites aided by a fawning media and other sycophants. Hence, the TEA Parties that popped up last week. Some people are concerned about the insane level of spending and want to limit/control spending by the national government. These folks were presented as right wingers, Republicans, and people who oppose Obama's policies for nefarious reasons.

The financial mess is deeper and wider than before and we somehow still expect the the people who created the mess to fix the mess. Politicians, Wall Streeters, assorted bankers and movers and shakers, Members of Congress, elites from the liberal arena, and a product of the corrupt Chicago political system is suppose to "fix" our problems?
How does that work?
The new president set a new precedent when it comes to selecting his cabinet. Paying their share of income taxes is optional for the appointees of the new president. From Geithner to Daschle to Schebelus (sp?) to Richardson to several others it seems ONLY LITTLE PEOPLE PAY TAXES.
And Obama is doing his best to set the conditions for total control of the country (politically, economically, culturally) by the DC elites aided by a fawning media and other sycophants. The Obama Administration...
... is off to a rocky start.
What is it with liberal Democrats not paying their fair share of taxes?
Some of them are the ones telling Americans to pay THEIR fair share - as determined by whom?- and yet they, Daschle, Jefferson, Rangel, et al, did not pay their share until caught cheating the IRS and us regular folks who pay our fair share.
Taxes is only one area where the Obama team is facing tough times. Several of Obama's cabinet picks were forced to withdraw because of taxes and other issues. Gov. Richardson and Senator Daschle to be specific. Tim Geithner (sp?) had tax problems - not paying his fair share and he heads up the IRS among other federal tax agencies. But he made it through the Senate despite these issues.
Who was in charge of vetting these people? Anyone?
Senator Clinton made it to Foggy Bottom as Sec. State. She brings with her more baggage than the Queen Mary ocean liner on a long voyage around the world. Clinton not only carries her personal baggage but is burdened with that of her spouse, the former president who bears more than his wife, if that is possible.
The Obama Administration is shaping up as the third term of the Clinton regime.

Dear Congressman Cantor:
I am writing to express my views and opinions about several issues facing the Nation at this time.
As always I am concerned about the federal budget. In my opinion the Congress spends far too much on unnecessary projects and wastes precious taxpayer dollars. Congress must do a better job of controlling the budget, although I know it is difficult to do so during an economic downturn when we all want to stimulate the economy. The federal budget consumes more than 3 Trillion dollars; a huge portion of our GDP. It is time to cut wasteful and outdated programs and return to fiscal sanity in federal spending.
In my opinion the current financial crisis was caused in large part by dishonesty and greed. This greed was (is) spread throughout private business and government since Congress wanted to please everyone (thereby get votes) and permeates many sectors of business. Bankers, mortgage lenders, stock brokers, auto company executives, Freddie and Fannie officials, and others, are guilty of excessive greed and downright dishonesty if not criminal actions. An unanswered question on the financial bailout: If the banks sold their sub-prime mortgage loans to Freddie and Fannie and no longer held those “assets”, why did they need a bailout? And of course Freddie and Fannie were bailed out of their irresponsible and dishonest actions that led to this financial meltdown. Recent news indicates that the bailed out banks gave their CEOs more than $1 Billion in bonuses – FROM THE TARP FUNDS. I realize money is fungible, but that is outrageous! Why are they rewarding failure? Are they nuts? I blame Congress and the pressure it placed upon financial institutions to use the Community Reinvestment Act, as revised, to make loans to folks who under normal lending standards would never have qualified for the loans. Hence, the collapse of the housing bubble.
Will anything change as a result of this crisis? Will the CRA be killed or revised so mortgage lenders can return to a sensible mortgage lending system? Will Congress impose new and unworkable restrictions on the mortgage business?
President Bush approved “loans” to GM and Chrysler. I urge you to require them to restructure their operations beginning with the UAW contracts so these two companies can compete and grow providing they offer products the American people want to buy.
A larger problem facing the country is declining morals. Congress is powerless to do anything about this pervasive problem since it has its own problems with ethics. It is the root cause of all of the above and of most of our other social ills.
Congress presents a unique problem. How is the best way to deal with our elected officials In the Congress? I dislike the trend toward lifelong careers in Congress. I think the Founders would be dismayed by the movement, not new, toward lifelong stays in Washington by Members of Congress. If we can limit the terms of presidents, then surely by the same reasoning we can limit the terms of Representatives and Senators. Six terms in the House and two terms in the Senate is what I have in mind with a constitutional amendment worded similar to the XXII Amendment. I realize this may be a touchy issue with you. However, something must be done to infuse fresh blood into our national bodies of government
I have proposed to my family and friends a National Diogenes Night as a symbolic measure to show our displeasure with the current state of politics, the culture, the news media, and the growing gap between American potential and actuality. Scheduled for 10 January 2009 at 7:00 PM I have asked family and friends to walk outside with a light; a candle, a flashlight, a lantern, in a symbolic search for an honest journalist, banker, stock broker, or bureaucrat, etc.. I hope to repeat this effort at later dates.
I realize there are millions of people who do the right thing every day. Unfortunately, too few of them are in the news or in public life.
I thank you for your steadfastness and dedicated service to the people of the 7th District of Virginia and to the people of the United States.
